Ultra-fine thermal insulation fiber comes out


Recently, the team of Academician Meifang Zhu, researcher Yanhua Cheng and Dr. Zexu Hu of Donghua University studied industrial-scale island melt spinning technology and successfully prepared continuous microfibers, which are used as building blocks and assembled into aerogel felt with corrugated layer structure through freeze forming technology.


These aerogels not only have excellent mechanical properties that meet the elastic and comfort needs of fabrics, but they are also self-cleaning, waterproof, breathable and flame retardant for use in extreme environments. In addition, these aerogel felt garments exhibited insulation properties close to dry air and were only one-third as thick as down garments with similar insulation properties. It has the potential for a wide range of applications, such as daily warmth, outdoor sports and emergency rescue special clothing.

Carbon nanotube composite heating
